Reader’s Question:
What is an SR16 auto insurance form?
Jenny
Every state has different laws with SR50 and SR16 auto insurance coverage. These kind of forms are one of the most commonly used forms in Indiana if a driver gets involved in an accident or have received a ticket for a traffic violation. These forms are required to be submitted to the BMV.
In the state of Indiana, SR16 insurance is used by the court to inform the BMV that the motorist has been convicted of a certain traffic violation.
Thus, if you want your drivers reinstated after being revoked or suspended, the court’s clerk office will provide an SR16. This SR16 will let the BMV reinstate your license. Generally, the form will be mailed by the clerk’s office to the BMV but some also let you to send the form yourself to the BMV. Your driver’s license will then be reinstated for a small fee. You may contact the court’s clerk to know more information about this form.
